I am trying to find someone with similar experience to mine with eating fruit (it makes me dead tired). And maybe with some good solutions.
First the background. I started to changing my diet seven years ago, first cutting out all the sodas, cakes, snacks etc., then changed to vegetarian diet five years ago. Since I read about health and diet all the time I soon came across with the raw food diet concept. I decided for slow shift to raw diet, first replacing breakfast with fruit, then the dinner etc.
Two years ago for the new year eve I decided to go raw. I basically followed the 811 diet, with lots of fruit all the time. And I was 100% raw for months. I lost a lot of weight, went through some emotional cleaning, had my ups and downs. Felt very light, illuminated, balanced etc. But then the problems started. Basically now seems like going raw lead to burn out.
I started to feel tired and drained all the time. It became impossible for me to follow the raw diet. So after one year being on raw I started to eat cooked food again. But only lunch and strictly vegan diet. I felt a little better, but still far from being full of energy. I decided to test my blood and it showed up that I had critically low levels of vitamin B12 and D. I bought the supplements and started to consume them every day. I felt a little bit better, but still I had very low energy. And I felt totally strange, taking two pills every day. That is not picture of a healthy person. So somehow I also decided to stop my vegan diet and eat small quantities of diary every day. Not separately, but I did not mind if there was some diary in the food I ate for lunch. I felt a little bit better, but still a lot of ups and downs.
Then I had the following experience. Since I travel a lot for business there was an occasion when I could not buy fruit for few days. Of course I thought I was going to die without fruit for the whole two days. But actually I felt better on the physical level. It seemed like I had much more physical energy. But still when I got back home, that experience did not matter to me, since I was totally convinced that fruit is the perfect food.
Still lacking of energy, I tried everything, from adding green smoothies, low fat, high fat diet, mono meals, mixing fats and carbs, adding the calories, etc. Nothing really worked. Then I listened to Tony Robbins audio books and in one of them he is promoting Fit for Life diet style with lots of fruit. But in one of his next programs he says he was dead wrong about that. In this program he says that fruit made him totally tired and that for several years he had no physical energy and had to do everything with his mind power. And I must say I am having the similar experience. Now he is promoting ph miracle diet by Robert Young.
But that is quite a big mind shift. Still I believe that fruit is the perfect food. The whole 811 theory makes sense (where our ancestors lived, why we are attracted to sweet etc.). Nevertheless it does not work for me at all as it did not for Tony Robins I guess. There are several things I do not like about ph miracle diet, specially taking all the supplements. And Robert Young is the only one I found that claims fruit is acidic food. I also have the feeling that Tony is a little bit kept back on his opinion about fruit. Maybe he did not figure it out yet why it makes him tired (like I did not yet). And I guess Dr Young's solution works for him.
But still as I mentioned I have big logical problems with believing in ph Miricle. The diet consist mainly eating veggies, nuts and oils, with some fish and legumes. So where do you get calories from - only avocado, olives, nuts and seeds? It doesn't make any sens. On the other hand it is also almost impossible to follow it if you do not have your own chef or a lot of time to prepare your meals. On the top of it all I am allergic to nuts and legumes are not doing good for my digestion (I figure that out from listening to my body). So I am left only with veggies - and no calories. I suppose I would feel even more tired.
Well, I identified some potential causes of my energy problem.
- I am workaholic and really work a lot. Since cooked food and diary is a big stimulant I just need it for working days and nights. And fruit has a big cleansing effect.
- I am also not emotionally very positive and sangvinic person, more philosophical one. So maybe you have to be really really emotionally in balance to be on raw diet.
-Maybe you have to be in the right warm and sunny atmosphere, here is 1/2 year really cold. That probably explains lack of vitamin D.
- Candida may be also the problem. Some say that sugar also fructoses can cause yeast to burst.
Now I am not sure what to do. I can not go on like that, because without physical energy life is just one big struggle. And definitely eating too much fruit contributes to crashing my body again and again. You can say it is cleaning crises, but I can not wait for few years to past that phase. On the other hand I am not sure about eating only veggies. Meat is no option and diary, grains and legumes really are highly acidic.
And by the way, the discipline is no problem for me. I can eat whatever I decide too, but still all the shifts for me are quite stress for the body, so I try to be very careful. Did maybe any of you faced the similar problem and found a good solution that is not based on pills and powders?
Thanks for you answer!
